Got Cabin Fever?
Well, we have a cure for that! With over a foot of new snow and a jam-packed schedule of mid-winter events, it's time to get out of the house for some good ol' fashioned fun in the Adirondacks. From snowmobile events and ski races to winter festivals and fireworks, events in Hamilton County are rockin' as we roll into President's Day Weekend and beyond. Mid-Winter Events to Check Out
Winterfest - Indian Lake, NY
FEB. 13-15, 2015 - President's Day Weekend kicks off on February 13th in Indian Lake with the 30th annual Indian Lake Winterfest. Winterfest is simply what the name states: a winter festival full of fun for everyone. This year's theme,"Wild, Wild West," is sure not to disappoint! From parade & fireworks, to snowmobile poker run and cardboard sled races, there is so much happening that you need to check out the schedule yourself to believe it.
Winterfest will also be the kick-off for Indian Lake's other big winter event: SnoCade.
Snocade - Indian Lake, NY
FEB. 13-22, 2015 - With an abundance of snow covering the trails, SnoCade in Indian Lake is going to have some great conditions to "make tracks." With a full lineup of festivities for both snowmobiling and non-snowmobiling enthusiasts, the calendar, like the trails, is in great shape! Here's a quick sample of some of the great activities scheduled as part of SnoCade 2015: knitting workshops, comedy shows, live music, hockey games, skating races, stargazing trips, and kitty kat snowmobile races. From guided snowmobile and snowshoe tours to family activities you're sure to find something you just can't miss.
WINTER CARNIVAL - RAQUETTE LAKE
FEB. 14-15, 2015 - Looking for a hub of winter activity that is sure to kick the winter blues? Visit Raquette Lake for their annual Winter Carnival. Some of the highlights of this fun weekend include:

Winter Carnival at Oak Mountain - Speculator, NY
FEB 14, 2015 - Winter Carnival at Oak Mountain is something that you won't want to miss! Just knowing that "Kayak Slalom" is one of the activities makes you know that this event is going to have some serious fun attached to it. Some of the other activites include a scavenger hunt, live music, torchlight parade, ski races, snow sculpture competition and more. Cap it all off with night skiing and a fireworks display and it sounds like a great day to hit the slopes of this ski area!
Lake Eaton Ice Fishing Derby - Long Lake, NY
FEB 14, 2015 - Yes, there is even something on the calendar for the anglers in your family. The Town of Long Lake will host the annual Lake Eaton Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, February 14, 2015. So grab the auger, tip-ups and gear, and compete for some of the big prizes and big fish this tournament is sure to turn up.
Dummy Big Air Competition - Speculator, NY
FEB 21, 2015 - Oak Mountain in Speculator, NY will be back at it again on February 21 with their annual Dummy Big Air Competition. This has to be one of the funniest events that the Adirondacks is home to. Here is how it works: participants build a dummy and attach it to skis or a snowboard, then they send it down the hill to hit the jump and compete for the biggest air and the chance to take home the cash prize.
Frozen Fire & Lights - Inlet, NY
FEB 28, 2015 - Frozen Fire & Lights is one of the premier winter festivals in the southern Adirondack region with a full day of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Some of the festivities scheduled for the 28th include: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, Adirondack Cardboard Sled Racing Circuit, Noah's Ark Animal Workshop, face painting, a wine & chocolate pairing, bonfire and more! New this year, the festival will also include youth snowmobile races on a set track at Fern Park. After a day of activity, be sure to stick around for a FREE hot dog and beverage (yes, I said free) and spectacular fireworks show. So , there is no excuse not to end February with a bang... literally! Simply load up the tribe and head to Inlet for the 2015 Frozen Fire & Lights Festival.
Break that Cabin Fever!
So now that you have the skinny on some of the events coming up during the rest of February, it's time to cure that cabin fever with a trip to the Adirondacks. Make a weekend of it... attend an event, take a snowmobile ride or cross-country ski. Whatever it is that you decide to do, with so much activity lined up there is no excuse to be crying the winter blues!
