This is a fine location for backcountry fishing.
Getting there
From the intersection of Route 28 and Limekiln Road in Inlet, follow Limekiln Road and turn left on Moose River Plains Road. Next, take the second right onto Otter Brook Road, which eventually turns into Indian River Road. Follow that to its end.
The roads through the Moose River Plains Wild Forest are very rough, but can be driven in most cars with some care at slow speeds.
Fishing
Fishing is decent from the end of the short spur trail, which is 1.7 miles from the parking area. The shore of the pond has access to additional sites.
This is a canoe and kayak launch only. It's a 1.7 mile carry along an old forest road.
Insider information:
- The trout in these waters are not of any impressive size but can be fun to catch.
- Since stream trout are the fish in the area, little gear needs to be hauled in.
Always follow state fishing regulations and be sure to pick up a NYS Freshwater Fishing Guide at your local outfitters or regional DEC office.
