John Hill is a talented singer, songwriter, musician, and entertainer known for his soulful and authentic performances. He believes, “There is great power in music; my job as an entertainer is to act as a channel through which that power can resonate.”
As a soloist, John plays Marten acoustic guitars and sings with conviction, often accompanying himself with sweet, sometimes raucous harmonica solos. He showcases a wide range of American music, including country, folk, blues, rock, bluegrass, gospel, and standards. As a full-time musician, John performs over 300 dates each year throughout the Capital Region, the Mid-Hudson Valley, Vermont, and Cape Cod.
John's careful attention to song selection ensures that each tune resonates with both him and his audience. His primary influences include notable artists such as Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Jerry Garcia, Merle Haggard, Neil Young, Ralph Stanley, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. Each performance is like a conversation between me and them, so I select songs in the spur of the moment based on what’s happening around me.”
