Winter Update – December 21, 2013

Happy First Day of Winter!  Oh wait, is that rain?

I am sad to say that, yes, it has been raining on & off since yesterday.  We started out with a good amount of snow on the snowmobile and ski trails and the groomers did get it all packed before the rain, so maybe it will not hurt as much as we think.  But today might not be a fun day to be out there.  Temperatures are going to drop on Monday, and we may see this rain turn to snow before Christmas!

The Ice Skating Rink is closed, and the sledding hill is pretty wet.

Groomers will not be out on the trails today.

Winter Update – December 18, 2013

Inlet Golf Course was groomed today for cross-country skiing! You can expect about a 4-5 inch loose base on the trail.

Groomer’s report on Monday for Fern Park said the lighted trail had been groomed, also Fifth Lake NE perimeter, Jasper, Walter’s Ski Trail, Woods Pasture, Pasture Trail all had around a foot of fluffy snow packed down to about 5-6 inches. Base was not hard yet, but another swing through today has firmed things up.

Ice Skating Rink is open and in good shape.

The sledding hill has snow and has seen quite a few sledders over the past couple weeks so is in fair to good condition.

Snowmobile groomer was heading out this morning to pan the FX Matts Trail between Limekiln and Red Dog Tavern. Local trails were all hit Sunday, Moose River Plains on Monday. Should be nice for this weekend!

Winter Report – December 14, 2013

Inlet snowmobile trails were panned yesterday. Limekiln to Gilbert and all inner trails were hit at least once. Moose River Plains was also done from the Inlet gate to Red River.

Today the groomer is hitting the trail to Eagle Bay, then will be parked for a demonstration at the Inlet fire hall for the Snowmobile Safety Course. After class it will head back into the MRP will a goal to make it to Silver Run.

The ice skating rink is open!  And there is lots of snow on the sledding hill!

The parks guys have been working hard to clear more than 80% of the cross-country ski trails at Fern Park and have even been able to groom a lot of them. Inlet Golf Course will be groomed on Monday.

Snow & Trail Report – March 23, 2013

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

Another 2-3 inches of snow and it is still falling lightly.

Snowmobile groomer has been out. Trails are in fair to good condition.

Ski groomers have also been out and they report excellent trails everywhere with 12-14 inches of base if not more.

Ice skating rink is open an in excellent condition and so is the sledding hill.

Snow & Trail Report – March 21, 2013

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

Another 5 or 6 inches of snow overnight here in Inlet.  Don’t trust that snow stick at www.hamiltoncountychoppers.com.  I don’t care what it says.  That stick is in my front yard.  Yesterday it said 9 inches.  This morning I brushed a good 5 inches off the truck and the stick read 10 inches. ?? Must be drifting? Kids shoveling in front of it when I’m not looking? Anyways …

The Inlet snowmobile groomers are out this morning! I saw one in front of the Ole Barn on my way in to work and the other was crossing 28 heading towards Eagle Bay.

No word from the ski groomers yet. Maybe that means they are out on the trails?

Only 20 degrees out there so the ice skating rink should still be in good shape and this new snow on the sledding hill definitely can’t hurt it!

Snow & Trail Report – March 20, 2013

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

We have received quite a bit of snow over the last couple days.  I am talking over a foot of snow!  There is at least one snowmobile groomer out today working on the Inlet trails.  Trails should be in fair condition today.  Still watch for wet/thin spots, but there may even be some good spots out there! :)

The ski groomers report that all of Fern Park has been groomed including Ralph’s Run and the South Loop.  The Inlet Golf Course has also been recently groomed.  Trails are in very good condition.

Ice skating rink has 2 inches of ice and is in fair condition.  Sledding hill looks good!
